Salford Schools Football League: Eccles Division

After a long, tough season, St Gilbert's were crowned champions of the Eccles Division of the Salford Schools Football League.

The team managed to win 4 out of their 5 matches this season, which was a fantastic effort from everyone involved. The players showed a fantastic eye for goal scoring more than 20 goals which helped them on their way to the title.

We hope the team can continue this success into next year. Well done to everyone!

St Gilbert's Sports Day: Thursday 22nd June 2017

Sports day at St Gilbert's saw all children in KS1 and KS2 coming to school in their coloured t-shirts and PE kits excited and ready to compete.

Although the weather was dreary in the morning and looked to spoil the fun, it didn’t stop the procedings or the St Gilberts pupils from having an exciting time. The activities included the obstacle course, the egg and spoon race, the relay, the sprint race and  the two footed jump.

The children showed good behaviour, respect for each other and determination. It was a fabulous day enjoyed by the children, staff and parents alike.

The yellow team won! Well done to the children in that group and to everyone who participated.

Swimming Gala: Tuesday 13th June 2017

It was a hot afternoon on Tuesday 13th June when 12 talented swimmers from St. Gilbert’s RC School KS2 went on a minibus to a swimming gala at Eccles Leisure Centre. They arrived at 1pm and entered the bathrooms. They got changed and lined up near the pool side. They entered the pool after their swimming instructor said “ready set GO” and they started racing. They had different races and had to compete against other schools and establishments. They did a race of 25m front crawl and breaststroke which Ryan (Year 6) won. Ethan (Year 4N) won his front crawl race and Year 6 won the relay. The 12 children who competed in the swimming gala thoroughly enjoyed it. They won some and lost some and came fifth overall. A huge congratulations to all who took part and we are so proud of you and how you represented St. Gilbert’s RC School.
