LO: To express how Jesus wants us to love one another.

The Gospel according to John tells us what Jesus said was most important (based on John 13:34-35).

I give you a new rule.

It’s this: love one another.

You must love one another just as I have loved you. If you have love for one another then everyone will recognise that you are my disciples.

You shall love the Lord with all your heart,

With all your soul, and with all your mind.

This is the greatest and first commandment,

To love your God with all your heart.

The second is like it, so listen well:

You shall love your neighbour as yourself.

These two commandments are the greatest of all.

They are the heart of God’s Law.

Activity:

Work in mixed ability groups. Use the notes you have made.  Write a recipe for a happy family. Name all the ingredients needed for living happily together at home.  Use these ingredients to write and illustrate a recipe for ‘The Happy Family’.  For example: Take five grams of love. Add to this ten kind words. Mix well etc.
