Today you are going to become rounding champions.
Watch the videos of rounding to 10, 100 and 1000 and complete the questions.
Now it is your turn, have a go at rounding the following numbers to the nearest ten.
Don't forget the rounding rules.
Identify the place value you are rounding. (Circle it)
Next look at the number to the right and underline it.
If the number to the right is 0-4 the place value you are rounding stays the same
e.g. 54 = 50
If the number to the right is 5-9 the number we are rounding must go up one.
e.g 68 = 70
When rounding to the nearest ten we look at the ones column
Round the following numbers to the nearest 10:

Have a go at rounding the nearest 100.
Don't forget when rounding to the nearest 100 we look at the10s column.
If the number to the right (the 10s column) is 0-4 the number we are rounding stays the same. e.g 532 = 500
If the number to the right (the 10s column) is 5-9 the number we are rounding will go up one. e.g 379 = 400

Don't forget when rounding to a thousand we look at the 100s column.
- Don't forget to identify the place value we are rounding.
- Look at the number to the right of the number you are rounding (the 100s column) if the number is 0-4 the number you are rounding stays the same e.g 2 120 = 2 000
