Year 6W
Welcome to Year 6W where we work hard and have lots of fun!
Year 6W public speaking poetry entry
'Thank you' - written by 6W
Only four years old and I’m standing at the gate,
Squeezing my Mum’s hand, my legs began to shake,
Welcome to Reception, Mrs. Killeen began to say,
You all look absolutely fabulous, let’s have a super day!
Year 1 was next and it was great, our school trip to the zoo,
Mrs. Boslem and Mrs. Winterhalder were very kind, helpful and patient too,
Into Year 2 and Mrs Staniland, taught us how to add,
I made a few mistakes along the way but she said I wasn’t bad,
Miss Seddon and Miss Ward were our junior teacher as we moved into Year 3,
They taught us so many skills, even some you couldn’t see,
How to be resilient, not to give up when I’m sad,
How to have faith in myself, to be thankful for what I have,
Getting older and growing up, I’m moving up the school,
Our teacher taught us how our insides worked – Wow! Miss Rusinek that’s so cool!
Year 5 was tricky, a harder year, but fun was had by all,
Learning so much from Mrs. Hermitt - our visit to Ordsall Hall!
Year 6 arrived and before we knew, we were preparing for our tests,
Miss Ward told us not to be afraid, to only try our best,
The times we had Mrs Costello, we really have to say,
The activities that you did with us, they brightened up our day.
Mr Finch - we sure do love P.E - it’s our favourite lesson by far,
The skills you’ve taught us just this year, have formed some super stars!
Mrs Hickey and Mr Martin, you also helped, to guide us on our way,
Thanks for everything you did for us, each and every day.
Mrs Kiernan, you also helped me a lot and I have to tell you too,
You were there for me when I needed it and are really someone who,
Takes time to listen, to explain and helps me to believe,
I can do anything I want in life, be successful and achieve.
To Mrs Flynn and everyone whose worked with us, recently and over the years,
We want to thank you for your time, shout hooray, three cheers.
Our time at St Gilbert’s is over, and as we look ahead,
We may be slightly nervous but we’ll look forward and smile instead.
I am a child of St Gilbert’s and forever proud I’ll be,
Thank you for taking the time you did to share this journey with me.
