Year 3 Sacramental Programme

At St Gilbert’s RC Primary School, we are delighted to support our Year 3 children as they prepare to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. This is an important stage in their faith journey and an opportunity for children to grow in their understanding of God’s love and their place within the Catholic Church.

The parish leads the Sacramental Programme whist being supported by school. We work closely with families to provide the children with the appropriate preparation and opportunities to deepen their faith. The school work alongside Mrs Darcy (our school Business Manager), our parish catechist, and works in partnership with the parish to support the children throughout this special time.

Our role in school is primarily to ensure that families are kept informed and able to access the relevant information. We signpost parents and carers to important sacramental dates, parish communications and key events. Newsletters and further information relating to sacramental preparation are also shared through the Year 3 section of the school website, providing families with an accessible place to find updates and guidance.

As part of their preparation, the children have the opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation in school with Fr Martin. This provides a calm and familiar setting in which the children can experience the sacrament and reflect on God's love, mercy and forgiveness.

Through the partnership between parish, school and families, we seek to ensure that our children are supported and encouraged throughout their sacramental journey, helping them to approach these important celebrations with faith, understanding and joy.
