Pupil Leadership

Pupil Leadership

At St Gilbert’s RC Primary School, we are delighted to have a range of Pupil Leadership Teams that give our children the opportunity to become active leaders and make a positive difference within our school and wider community. Our teams include the GIFT Team, Mini Vinnies, Playground Leaders, Eco Warriors and year group buddies.

Each group has an important role to play in helping our school community flourish, encouraging children to take responsibility, support others and put their faith into action.

  • Mini Vinnies – putting our faith into action by helping others, serving our community and sharing the message of the Gospel.
  • GIFT Team – helping to Grow in Faith Together and supporting the prayer and spiritual life of our school, including through The Wednesday Word.
  • Play Leaders – being positive role models for younger children and helping to make playtimes happy, welcoming and inclusive.
  • Laudato Si group- look after our common home and promote the messages of Laudato Si throughout school.
  • Year group buddies- set an example of behaviour and attitude to learning and others to their younger buddy. They act as role models throughout school helping them to ‘become the best they can be.’
  • School Council- using their voices and ideas to build a better school for all.

All of our pupil leadership is  inspired by the words of Jesus in Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,” our pupil leaders understand that true leadership is about serving others with kindness, humility and compassion.

Through their roles, our Pupil Leadership Teams help to create a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. They are encouraged to listen to the views of others, work together, show courage and compassion, and use their voices to bring about positive change. Whether supporting younger pupils, helping to organise activities, promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening our faith community or representing the views of their peers, our pupil leaders are living out our Gospel Values and demonstrating what it means to be a responsible member of the St Gilbert’s community.
