Celebration of the Word

At St Gilbert’s Roman Catholic Primary School we are;

Inspired by St. Gilbert, as God’s family, we are growing strong in love and faith, becoming the best we can be.

At St Gilbert’s RC Primary School, Collective Worship is an important part of our Catholic identity and school life. It provides us with opportunities to come together as a community, recognise God’s presence among us and give thanks for His love. Through worship, we are invited to deepen our relationship with God and reflect on how we can live out the teachings of Jesus in our everyday lives.

Our times of worship allow children and adults to pause, listen, reflect and pray together. Through Scripture, prayer, music, hymns, stories and moments of quiet reflection, we explore the Gospel message and consider how it can guide the choices we make and the way we treat others.

Collective Worship also helps us to live out our six Gospel values of faith, courage, resilience, forgiveness, compassion and fullness of life. Children are encouraged to put these values into practice by showing kindness, supporting others, having the courage to do what is right, forgiving those who have hurt them and persevering when faced with difficulties.

We believe that worship should be meaningful, inclusive and accessible to all members of our school family. Whether we gather as a whole school, in smaller groups, within our classrooms or through celebrations with our parish community, worship gives us time to celebrate, give thanks and grow together in faith.

Through Collective Worship, we seek to strengthen our sense of community and encourage each child to recognise their God-given gifts and responsibilities. In this way, worship becomes more than a moment in the school day; it helps us to live our Catholic faith through our words, our actions and the way we care for one another.
