At St Gilbert’s RC Primary School, we are inspired by the words of Scripture: “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” (Psalm 34:8). We strive to help our children discover the goodness of God and carry His message of love, hope and faith into their everyday lives.

The Wednesday Word is an important resource that supports this mission. Each week, our children encounter the Gospel message and are given time to explore Scripture, reflect on its meaning and consider how God’s Word can influence the way they live and treat others.

During Collective Worship, The Wednesday Word encourages our pupils to listen, reflect and share their ideas. It helps them to develop their understanding of Scripture and recognise how the teachings of Jesus can be lived out through their everyday choices and actions.

The resource also provides a valuable opportunity for families to continue the conversation at home. By sharing the Gospel together, children and their families can reflect on their faith, discuss the weekly message and strengthen the important connection between home, school and parish.
