Our Mission Statement

At St Gilbert’s Roman Catholic Primary School we are;

Inspired by St. Gilbert, as God’s family, we are growing strong in love and faith, becoming the best we can be.

St Gilbert’s Primary School is a welcoming, caring and inclusive community where every child and adult is valued, respected and encouraged to flourish. Our Catholic faith and Mission are at the heart of school life, guiding the way we learn, work and care for one another.

We are proud to be a school family built on love, kindness and mutual respect. We celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of our community and encourage our children to recognise, appreciate and respect the beliefs, cultures and experiences of others.

We believe that every child has the God-given gifts and talents to achieve their potential. Through high expectations, encouragement and support, we provide opportunities for all pupils to succeed, develop their confidence and strive for excellence in all that they do.

Together, we create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel they belong, are encouraged to make a difference and are inspired to live out our Gospel values each day. At St Gilbert’s, our strength comes from being a community united in faith, love and respect.

Gospel Values

At St Gilbert’s RC Primary School, our core aim is to live out our six Gospel Values in all that we do. These values — Resilience, Faith, Compassion, Fullness of Life, Forgiveness and Courage — are at the heart of our school community and guide the way we learn, grow and care for one another. We encourage our children to demonstrate these values every day, both in their learning and in their relationships with others. While we focus on and celebrate all six Gospel Values throughout the year, each half term we have a particular value that we place a special emphasis on, giving our children opportunities to explore what it means and how they can live it out in their daily lives.

Each week, we celebrate children who have demonstrated our Gospel Values through their actions, attitudes and choices around school.  Certificates are awarded to children based on clear evidence of them living out these values, whether that be showing resilience when facing a challenge, demonstrating compassion towards others, showing courage, living out their faith, offering forgiveness or embracing the fullness of life. Through recognising and celebrating these examples, we aim to inspire all our children to be the very best version of themselves and to make our Gospel Values a meaningful part of everyday life at St Gilbert’s.
