Week 1 (Black Lives Matter)

This week we are going to learn about the Black Lives Matter movement. We will learn what it means, how it started and about some of the black people who have lost their lives because of racism. 

We will look at an example of a Black Lives Matter novel for children and use some of the stories from the movement as inspiration to write some poetry.

Have a read of the cartoon above - I think it explains the Black Lives Matter movement really well and answers the questions that is sometimes asked about the reasoning behind the movement.

Then we will learn about some of the people that have died, read an extract from a book and learn about the term 'White Privilege'.

Today is all about understanding the meaning of the Black Lives Matter movement.
