Autumn 2 Week 5

This week, Mr Stix came to school with his assistant Peanut and his rabbit who is called Peter Rabbit. He performed lots of magic tricks, encouraged the children to dance and we all had an amazing time.

Autumn 2 Week 3

This week the children have been learning about repeating pattern. They made patterns through body movements, using natural objects and here you can see them making ABAB colour patterns.

Autumn 2 Week 2 - Talk Money

This week the whole school celebrated Talk Money Day. We shared what we knew about money, where it comes from, how we get it and what we use it for. The children explored coins and used the play dough to make impressions of different coins. We listened to a story called Milo’s Money and everyone came to school dressed as the career that they want to pursue when they are older.

Autumn 2 Week 1 Celebrating Black History Month

We have been celebrating Black History month by learning all about Ella Fitzgerald. Miss Beddows showed us some photos of her, we learnt some facts about her life and listened to her music. The children were able to remember that she was born in America, what her name was, that she was famous for singing and that her mummy went to Heaven when she was a little girl. We then danced to some of her music.

Autumn 1 Week 6

Brown Bear Snacks!

This week we concluded our learning about the Brown Bear story by making some Brown Bear snacks. It was the most delicious end to a busy week.

Autumn 1 Week 5

Brown Bear Brown Bear…….

We have been reading the Brown Bear, Brown Bear book. The children are learning to retell the story using a story map. The story is great at reinforcing the children’s knowledge of colour, identifying animals and sequencing events. We played a colour matching activity and also used mirrors to look closely at the shapes our mouths made when making different animal sounds. In maths we have been identifying and ordering numbers within 5.

Our religion work is all about God’s Wonderful World, this week we were thinking about the things that are in our world. We then focussed on fruit and vegetables. The children loved looking inside some different fruits and even liked tasting them. They had great fun with the top of the pineapple! We then took a look around our school poly tunnel to see what fruit and vegetables were growing in there. Our lesson finished with the story of Oliver’s Fruit Salad.

Autumn 1 Week 4 - Kapla Workshop

We were delighted to take part in this amazing workshop. The children were amazing and worked collaboratively to make small structures using the kapla blocks which were then placed carefully to make a snake. The finished product was amazing. The children practised their skills of teamwork, sharing, listening and following instructions to name a few!

Autumn 1 - Weeks 1-3

This half term our topic is Elmer and The Colourful Jungle.
The children have settled well into nursery and have been enjoying exploring the indoor and outdoor provision. They have taken on the role of jungle explorers in our role play area, imitated everyday actions and experiences in the home corner, used problem solving and critical thinking when approaching maths activities such as Numicon, creating and telling their own narratives using small world and so much more!
