Welcome to Year 5
Y5 are enjoying learning skills for Netball. They are learning how to attack, defend, play as a team, shoot and the rules of the game.
European Languages day. Y5 celebrating with Madame.
Design Technologyin Y5 is learning how to do cross stitching and for the children to create their own nordic design following their own pattern
Science investigation about air resistance. We measured three different sizes of squared parachute and one person dropped them from a height. We found that there wasnt much difference in the size of parachute and the air resistance. We could improve on this experiment.
Year 5 2024 to 2025
WELCOME
Y5 Rivers Field Trip. We consolidated our learning about rivers. Some children said it was the best trip ever!
Local History. We learned about Worsley Delve and the Bridgewater Canal and its importance in Salford.
Art was drawing a rainforest. Have a look at the fantastic work and effort.
St Gilberts collected in their monies for the St Joseph Penny appeal organised by the the diocesan charity Caritas. We lined up all our coins in the playground.






Y5 and Y6 retelling of the Easter story - The Crucifixion and Resurrection. They all did brilliantly.
PE. The children have been learning about Athletics - field and track events such as running, the relay race, the shot put and triple jump.

World Book Day 2025. A huge thank you to our Secret Reader, who read to Year 5.
FOOD TECHNOLOGY - Y5 children have been learning about Mexican foods. So we learned how to prepare and make cheesy black bean quesadillas and guacamole. We also had Mexican rice and tortillas chips. It was good to see how quick ,easy and nutritious these foods were too.
Bikeability - these children are confident cyclists now.

NSPCCA Number Day
We wore own clothes today and brought in a donation for the Charity NSPCCA. We also played times table games, Sudoku and word problems.
MATHS - learning how to use a protractor



We are focussing on Gymnastics in the Spring term: balance, push and pulls. We worked well in pairs.
Christmas Jumper Day
We have enjoyed reading “The Girl who Speaks Bear “ this term.
