Design and Technology in Our Catholic School
At St. Gilbert's, we strive for excellence in the arts. Our DT curriculum is taught through a cross-curricular approach and is always linked to the topics that your child is studying in other areas of the curriculum.
In Design and Technology, children learn that creating, building and designing are ways of appreciating and responding to God’s creation. They explore how everyday objects are made, how structures work and how products can be improved to better serve people’s needs. This helps pupils develop a sense of stewardship, understanding that thoughtful design can support communities, protect the environment and improve quality of life.
Through practical activities, children are encouraged to think carefully about purpose, impact and responsibility. They learn that good design is not only about function and appearance but also about compassion, fairness and care for others. These are values that lie at the heart of our Catholic identity.
Design & Technology and Gospel Values
