• Spring Term Stars

  Today we awarded our Reading, Writing and Maths Stars for the Spring term. These children have really impressed their teachers with their hard work. Well done, we are very proud of you!

  

• Easter Bingo

  Our Easter Bingo Night was a huge success, thanks to the support of all our families. The prizes were all provided from the non-uniform day and Cosmo Bingo in Eccles donated all the bingo tickets. There were many winners for a line or full house and all the children won at least one egg from the final raffle. Thank you to staff for organising the event and thank you parents, grandparents, carers and friends for donations and attending the event. 

  

• Inter-School Spelling Bee Final

  Well done to our children who competed in the Y5 & Y6 Spelling Bee finals at St. Joseph's on Tuesday. The standard this year was extremely high. We are very proud of our Year 5 children who came second in the competition and our Year 6 children who came first!

  Well done to all the Year 5 & Year 6 Spelling Bee finalists. You were all fantastic. The winners will go through to the inter-school competition at St. Joseph's next week.

• St.Patrick’s Day

  Y4 led the flag-raising service to celebrate the feast day of St.Patrick on 17th March. 

  

• World Book Day

  The children really enjoyed celebrating 'World Book Day.' The parade in the hall showcased the brilliant efforts made by the children and their parents/carers. The older children then shared stories with younger children. Lots of book-themed activities followed. The day finished with the book fair in the hall. Thank you to parents for supporting the day by providing amazing costumes,  donations to 'Book Aid' and attending the book fair.

  

• Inter-school Spelling Bee

  What an exciting Inter-School Spelling Bee today! Our children competed with St. Mary’s, St. Joseph’s and Holy Cross in a very close final. Isaac, Lucie and Zak, for Year 3, did an amazing job, coming first and winning a lovely trophy for the school. Elliott, Grace and Matthew, for Year 4, also performed very well but Holy Cross were the winners. The children knew the Year 3/4 words so well that the Y5/6 words had to be used in the deciding rounds. Well done to all the schools involved. We are especially proud of our children who were great ambassadors for St. Gilbert’s. We look forward to the Y5/6 Spelling Bee in a few weeks.
